Let Me Tell You About Mi

She works for the China International Travel Service office, just off of Walking Street, in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, P.R.China. We first met her during a city tour that we booked shortly after Mona & Sally first arrived. The tour was just a simple visit to Tiger Hill, a couple of gardens, the Silk factory and Pan Min Gate, and we were pleased enough that we used her a couple more times for some local things. When Erin & Daniel were visiting, she helped us book our trip to Xian. Got it set up, arranged the flights, hotels, transportation & personal guide. Had us picked up when we got back to Shanghai and delivered us right to our doorstep.
So when we decided to take our grand tour of China with our cousins, we went to her for help. She & Mona worked everything out, but she kept worrying about the costs of flying everywhere instead of taking some trains. When it came time to pay, we all went down with our credit cards in hand. Again, she was concerned because they would have to charge 4% for us to use the card and really wanted us to save the money by bringing in cash. Mona explained that in order to get out that much cash, it would cost us more in ATM fees, but it still bothered her. Then their credit card machine was not set up for American Express, so she told us just to pay when we got back from the trip, after they got the merchant code set up. She called us later and said that if we still wanted to charge it on AMEX, that we could come down to the office and she would go to the hotel next door with us and they would run the credit card.
An absolutely fantastic trip. On the last day, last flight, from YiChing back to Shanghai, the plane was late and we ended up with a four-hour delay. We put that under the heading of caca occurs and it was no big deal. Mona contacted her and they got it figured out so that we would be picked when we arrived. The plane finally left just after 11:00PM, then halfway through the flight, the flight attendant came on the PA and informed us that we were being diverted from Hongqiao airport to Pudong – opposite sides of Shanghai. When we arrived, we discovered that she had kept checking the flight progress, saw the change and had the driver there waiting for us.
Mona has sent several people to her for travel, so when one of my co-workers needed a flight down to the Philippines on short notice so that he could join his family for Christmas, I suggested he give her a call. She was able to book the flights for him and his son on the date he wanted. One of the other TA’s, going through our corporate travel service, wanted to delay his flight for a couple of days. He was told that if he didn’t go on the 15th as ticketed, there was nothing available until the 27th of December. Same airport to same airport -- same airline. Then to top it off, when we went down to pay we found out that she had stayed up all night long, checking the computer, until she found a way to save him an additional 1000RMB or 123USD!
Just wanted the world to know what a special kind of person and friend Mi Xiao Xia is.
